We are the Baganda community of the United Arab Emirates — a home away from home where members carry their culture, look after one another, and build something lasting for the families they left in Uganda.

Who we are

A registered home for Baganda in the UAE

KINACO Gulf Community Initiative (U) Limited is a company limited by guarantee, with its registered office in Uganda. It exists to bring together Baganda working and residing in the United Arab Emirates, and other diaspora communities, around one purpose: unity, solidarity, and mutual support, far from home.

The name carries our story before we tell it. Bazzukulu ba Kintu ne Nnambi — descendants of Kintu and Nnambi — is how Baganda speak of their own origin. We carry that lineage into Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and every emirate our members call home, and we bring it back to Buganda in the form of welfare support, education, and land.

Our story

Why KINACO was created

No one living away from home should have to face life's challenges alone, lose hope because of difficult circumstances, or lose connection with their identity, culture and roots.

Isolation

Thousands of kilometres from family and trusted friends, many members faced loneliness, work pressure and uncertainty entirely on their own.

Financial pressure & scams

Long hours to cover living costs while supporting family back home — and, for some, money lost to individuals or agencies who promised jobs and visas that never materialised.

Losing our roots

Years abroad, especially with children born and raised overseas, can quietly erode language, tradition and connection to home.

When one person has knowledge, it can help another.

When one person has an opportunity, it can open a door for another.

When one person has an idea, together we can develop it.

And when one person is struggling, they should not have to struggle silently.

Objective 6, in practice

Kakoni Estate, Bulemeezi

Mobilising resources works best when members can point to something real. In Bulemeezi, KINACO organised its members to jointly purchase land at Kakoni Estate — turning UAE incomes into a lasting asset back home, held by the people who earned it.

41members now hold a share of the estate
10acres purchased outright

It is the clearest proof of what the community can do when it pools its strength — and the model we intend to repeat for the next group of members.

KINACO on the pitch

Community isn't only built around a table — it's built on the pitch too. KINACO's team faced Basoga Nseete Community in a friendly match in Abu Dhabi, played under the lights in true derby spirit. KINACO came away with the win and the trophy, but the real prize was the two communities lining up together at the final whistle.
